The Girl with a Gragon Tatto

*ing : Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Cristopher Plummer
Director : David Fincher

Tagline : Evil shall with Evil be expelled

The movie is based on much celebrated novel by same name. Not just that, there is already European movie made on the book which apparently is also very very good.
I have neither read the book nor seen other movie. I wanted to do both but when i got to know that David Fincher, one of my favorite director, is making this film for more wider audience.. i decided to wait.
And the wait was worth. Its a very good film. dark, edgy, witty and haunting. everything which you associate with David Fincher films.
Now it wud be unfair for me to compare it with fincher's last film "the social network" of which i am huge fan and happens to be my most fav movie in last 5 years. No other movie can match with the social network bt fincher here does full justice with the story and treatment.
Daniel Craig is a journalist who is hired to search for a girl who disappeared 40 years ago. is she dead, alive, how did she disappear and everything related about it. and he gets help of a girl, with a dragon tattoo. who has her own share of issues bt is different than any other girl.

dnt be upset if u feel lil disturbed when movie gets over, just as tagline says : its a feel bad movie of the year..

Real Steel

*ing : Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lilly, Dakota Goya,
Director : Shaw Levy

Tagline :

Film set in 2020 where human boxing has been replaced by Robot boxing. The world's best Boxer robot is challenged by obscure robot named Atom owned by Hugh Jackman and his son. It sounds all sci-fi techno heavy bt actually its a sweet story of between father and son.
watch it for some really thrilling fights and some nice scenes between hugh jackman and the boy who plays his son.

A simple Plan

*ing : Bill Paxton, Billy Bob Thronton, Bridget Fonda
Director : Sam Raimi

Tagline : Sometimes good people do bad things..

Before Sam Raimi became director of blockbuster franchise Spider Man, he director this small little film. About people living in small town n living normal life until they hit by a plan. where they end up getting almost 4 million dollars in an abandoned plane. In order to get that money, they really have to go through a lot..
somehow did not like it much. its extremely slow for my taste and too uninspiring.

After Khuda Kay Liye, this is another eye opening movie by Pakistani director Shoaib Mansoor. Here also he talks about atrocities on Muslim women in Pakistan. Due to strange law, Muslims are not allowed to use protection while having sex and that results in number of kids in a family. "Bol" talks about one such family in Pakistan which keep producing kids in hope of a son. An orthodox hardcore muslim tourture the family of girls. The msg is to speak up against Domestic abuse. Must watch for all those who are concerned.

Jane Eyre

*ing : Mia Wasikowaska, Michael Fassebender, Jamie Bell, Judi Dench
Director : Cary Fukunaga

Tagline :

One of my favorite critic Anupama Chopra tweeted about the film. she said, and i quote, " its tragic and erotic, what else do you want from a love story? "
this line hooked me. we really do not want much from a love story bt sadly "Jane Eyre" is tragic in a way yes, but definitely not erotic.

Set in older England, Jane Eyre is governor of a rich man's kid. she has a tragic past. Inevitably she falls in love with the man but he also has a secret.
the film is quite good for most of the time bt last half n hour is what i did not like. i wouldn't recommend it much.

Moneyball

*ing : Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Phillip Seymour Hoffman
Director : Bennett Miller

Tagline : What are you really worth ?

To start with, this film is a sports film about Baseball and it is one of the rare sport I do not understand a thing about. That is one of the reason i had really difficult time understand the film. The film talk abt an underdog team which devices a computer system to find valued player. Brad Pitt plays manager of the team and is one of the best thing abt the film.

Megamind

*ing : (voices of ) Brad Pitt, Will Ferrel, Tina Fey
Director : Tom McGrath

Tagline : Giving Bad a Good name

to start with, every time i see an animation film from Hollywood i am overwhelmed. their concept, execution is light years ahead of us. so is film megamind.
its a story about a superhero and super villain. bt unlike other films, here super villain kills the superhero. bt the sadder part is he doesn't know what to do with his life now. he has no purpose or no goal to achieve. there are many interesting twist and turns which happen in the movie bt it keeps you glued and smiling throughout with sheer concept and humor of it. must watch if you are a kid, adult or old person.

Contagion

*ing : Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Gwyenth Paltrow
Director : Steven Soderbergh

Tagline : Nothing Spreads like fear

with director like soderbergh and such ensemble star-cast, it is extremely alright to have sky high expectations from the film. The film is set in future where a virus starts from one person and spreads all across the world. It becomes extremely difficult to find the reasons and cause of spread and also its vaccination. millions of people are dying all over the world as no one knows what to do about it.
the film is basically talks about fear of something like this ever happening (and quite likely, it can happen).
bt as a film level, it was no where close to best work of soderbergh. expected something much better and more powerful from him. eagerly awaiting his next film "haywire" then.

The Beaver

*ing : Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster, Anton Yelchin
Director : Jodie Foster

Tagline : He is here to save Walter's Life

With names like Gibson and Foster attached to a film, you expect the film to different and above ordinary. However the film is a disappointment. Story abt a corporate CEO who is going through depression in life and loosing everyone around. at the verge of suicide, he suddenly starts talking via a beaver. this makes some positive and some negative changes to his life. climax is unintentionally hilarious though. dint like it.

The Robber

*ing : Andreas Lust, Franziska Wiesz
Director : Benjamin Heiserberg

Tagline :

Its apparently a true story of a marathon runner who develops habit of robbing bank. Now that sounds weird as well as interesting. However film is anything bt interesting. Its a non happening slow boring film for the most part. The major parts are the chase scenes where cops are trying to catch hold of robber. there are no much reasons and explanations given as why he starts robbing bank and why he keeps doing it even after he knows the consequences.
