Carnage

*ing : Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christopher Waltz and John C Reilly
Director : Roman Polansky

Tagline : A comedy of no manners

A smart director like Polanski and a great cast like this, you expect nothing bt a quality film. and it does deliver.
Two pairs of parents hold a cordial meeting after their sons are involved in a fight, though as their time together progresses, increasingly childish behavior throws the evening into chaos.
At first, the verbal exchange between the two married couples maintains a high civility factor but when the differences between them start to emerge, subtly at first and eventually glaringly, the couples begin to turn on each other and finally each on their own spouse. As their civility and inhibition washes away, aided by a bottle of Scotch whiskey, descending fully into verbal warfare with all their character flaws laid bare.

Annie Hall

*ing : Woody Allen, Diane Keaton, Tony Roberts
Director : Woody Allen

Tagline : A nervous Romance

Woody Allen is one of the finest director of Hollywood and perhaps one of the most intelligent man. some of his films are among my most favorite films of all time. Annie Hall is considered to be his one his best work. no wonder the film also won academy award for best picture the year it got released.

what i like most abt woody allen's films is his films are real to life and always has a way to improve the way we deal with things, specially love. !

in Annie hall, he plays a nervous confused man in love with this women bt not realizing her importance. the women is also nervous and confused it doesnt make a perfect pair but what in life does.

what i also love most in his films is the dialogues and the humor part of it. if you understand subtle humor laced with bit of sarcasm, you will also become fan of the man..

Ek Main aur Ekk Tu

*ing : Kareena Kapoor, Imran Khan
Director : Shakun Batra

Tagline :

Loosely inspired by "what happens in Vegas" where boy and girl get married after one drunk night, EMAET is a funny account of a man who has been living life charted out by his parents.
rahul, played earnestly by imran khan, is an architect who irons his socks and underwear and chews his food 32 times before swallowing it, exactly as their parents asks him to do !

whereas Riana played by kareena is charming, bubbly, spunky girl who lives life as it comes. their path crosses and they get married on one drunk night. they both know its a mistake bt problem happens when rahul falls in love with riana.

the film is consistently funny and is made more watchable coz of crackling chemistry between the leads. not to forget the brilliant score by amit trivedi with rightly placed songs.

few words abt kareena. she definitely is the best actress in the industry and there were obvious complain abt her doing inconsequential roles in big movies. here she does full justice to her talent. she looks smokin hot and acts just perfect. fell in love with her all over again.

Rating :

The (In)eligible Bachelor

Writer : Ruchita Mishra

Finally a book a finished after a long time. The (in)eligible bachelor is funny and semi-biographical account of writer where she is forced to get into arranged marriage by her parents and ends up falling in love with her own boss.

It is in same genre as we see lot of new novels coming these days. the writing is easy and is occasionally genuinely funny. However you cant ignore the obvious bollywoodish reference to the entire plot or some of the situations.

it definitely is a commendable first time effort for the writer who ironically has sold rights for the book to be made into a hindi film.

scent of a women

*ing : Al Pacino, Chris O'Donnel, James Rebohrn
Director : Martin Brest

Tagline : Col. Frank Slade has a very special plan for the weekend. It involves travel, women, good food, fine wine, the tango, chauffeured limousines and a loaded forty-five. And he's bringing Charlie along for the ride.

the tagline says pretty much abt the plot of film. except frank slide, played by al Pacino is a blind cocky man who is rude, blunt and extremely loud.
however charlie is sophisticated, introvert young boy who thinks that he is trapped with this man.
inevitably, they form a special relationship where charlie saves frank's life and frank saves charlie from being expelled from the collg.

what i love most about the film is its title "scent of a women" !

Rango

*ing : Voice of Johny Depp
Director : Gore Verbinski

Tagline :

To start with, i must mention that this film is made by makers of the pirates of Caribbean. a franchisee film which i literally hate and did not like any one of them.

rango is heavily inspired by same series. the lead has body language, accent by jack sparrow played famously by johnny Depp. has some really ugly animated characters.
he tries to give water to a village suffering from shortage of water. i did not like the film and cudnt finish it..

Warrior

*ing : Tom Hardy, Nick Nolte, Joel Edgerton
Director : Gavin O'Connor

Tagline : Family is worth fighting for.

I have seen quite a few films on sports and boxing in particular. Most of the films hv been good and there have been something special about them. Warrior is also a very good film and has something special about it. that something special in "warrior" is tom hardy. the raging bull with such powerhouse performance. I am in awe of this actor.
the story is not that complicated. two estranged brothers in need of money take part in local boxing championship and end up fighting the finale.
bt its the acting, the emotional scenes, the choreography of fight is what lifts you up. its a must watch film

Middle Men

*ing : Luke Wilson, Giovani Ribisi, Gabriel Matcht
Director : George Gallo

Tagline : The guys who brought XXX into WWW

This could have been such a fascinating story. About people who brought porn on internet which changed the dimensions of industry forever. however, where there is porn, there ought to be big money and where big money is, you ought to have some problem.
the film talks about 2 genius who are mad in lot many ways. but are taken care by a sane and smart man who helps them set up their business and earn the money. but this family man gets involved in number of things including murder, sex, deceit and conspiracy. he gets out clean in the end but not without some sacrifices. i would liked it more had it concentrated the starting of industries and technicalities of it. the film tries too hard to become a crime drama. thats where it looses it i guess.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

*ing : Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy
Director : Tomas Alfredoson

Tagline : Trust no one. suspect everyone.

This film is apparently based on a very famous British novel released somewhere in 70s. There was also a very famous TV show by the same name on the same book.
Its about a British secret agent department which suspects that there is a mole within them. they re-appoint one of their retired spy to do the investigation and bring out the culprit.
the premise sounds int resting but film is anything but that. its a boring, bleak, confusing drama about some old people.
the narrative is extremely confusing and you really do not get what is happening and why it is happening and who is who.
also the fact that i saw it at 3 AM after having mild hangover did not help much.
Would advise you to skip it.

In the Mood for Love

*ing : Toney Leung Chiu Wai, Maggie Cheung, Ping Lam Siu
Director : Kai Wai Wong

Tagline : Feel the heat, keep the feeling burning, let the sensation explode.

Alright, the thing i love most about the film is its title. though this is tragic tale of unrequited unsaid love it really is not that effective honestly.
Story about married male and female who's respective spouses are having an affair. they come together coz they hate their respective spouses and end in falling in love. but they never get physical and understands their boundaries. the film is made watchable by its haunting background score. I somehow did not like it much. watching it in different language and with completely different sensibilities may not have helped much. I d rather you can give a try. you may end up loving it.
