Nautanki Sala

*ing : Ayushmann Khurrana, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Pooja Salvi
Director : Rohan Sippy

Tagline :

20 minutes in the movie and I have to say I was extremely irritated. It was like WTF is going on. its hard to believe that the film is made by someone who has made 3 big movies in past( all flops though). It looked extremely amateurish effort since beginning. And I forwarded it too much to know wat happened the film.

Director : Sai Paranjape

Tagline :

I saw the original Chasme Badoor starring faruq sheikh and Deepti Naval. The film got remade recently by David Dhawan and I was wondering wats so about the movie that it got remade after 30 years. Well, original is light hearted fun bt dint find anything worthy it to be last for decades. A sincere student lives with 2 good for nothing buggers. Nothing happen for the most part of the movie. I found it just ok.

Go Goa Gone

*ing : Kunak Khemu, Vir Das, Puja Gupta, Saif Ali Khan
Director : Krishna D.K., Raj Nidimoru

Tagline :

This a movie by the director dua who made 99 and Shor in the City, both of which I liked. Go Goa Gone is first Zombie movie from India. And I have to tell you that this is one genre that I hate. I cant stand Zombie movies. Yes even that famous one , Shawn of the Dead. I was not very keen on go goa gone either bt it had interesting trailer with 2 good for nothing lad, played here by kunal khemu and vir das, sets off to goa. The Russian drug lord, played by saif ali khan. It all added to the excitement. The film’s first half was also a breeze with some kool dialogues and songs. Bt film goes downhill the moment zombie appears. Just nothing happens. Even the humor dries down. And we just wait for the movie to end. Wish it was smarter in the 2nd half.

Jolly LLB

*ing : Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Amrita Rao
Director : Subhash Kapoor

Tagline : We belive in inJustice

This is not the best courtroom movie ever made but will be one of the better ones. The movie does pack a strong satire about the legal system in India. How corrupt the lawyers are. How the rich and powerful go scot free for the lack of evidence, or when they can buy witnesses. The number of pending cases in country is staggering and shocking. The legal system, as one of the song suggests in the film , L lage hue hai.
Many scenes are there just to add some comic relief but my opinion is that they do balance the load of the satire and set the tone for the movie.
The change of character was a bit sudden and could have done with a little depth. The songs and dances were unnecessary.

think Arshad's acting was quite ok but cud hv done better. Boman's acting was above average (but not great) but it was surabh shukla, as a judge who steals the show. The evidence was there. The decisions were made based on evidence, not on emotional speeches. Please keep this in mind and don't get carried away by the speeches. The story is set in very raw tones and inspired by reality.
Some parts of the movie are not convincing but overall, I still liked it enough.
Also, having heard the news that the director of the this movie is set to make next Munnabhai series (I think sanjay dutt has gone to jail and the plan wud b in limbo now) bt I hope he sharpens his skills and not let the fans of munnabhai down.

Kai Po Che

*ing : Amit Sadh, RajKumar Yadav, Sushant Singh Rajput, Amrita Puri

Tagline :

Kai Po Che is a film adaptation of a very successful book ‘The 3 Mistakes of My life’ written by immensely popular writer in India , Chetan Bhagat.
It also helps that the screenplay of the film is also written by chetan. Kai Po Che literally means, ‘I have Cut’ in Gujrati.
Like the novel, the film is also based in Ahmadabad and is story of 3 friends. The story is set in 2000 where the new millennium just started and technology was at a boom. However, Gujarat also went thru some horrific tragedies like the earth quake and subsequent riots. There was also a very high profile cricket series played between India and Australia. These all real incidents are woven very nicely in the movie.
Frankly, the movie exceeded my expectations. Kai Po Che does not redefines Indian cinema and brings nothing new to the table but still it ranks among the best films made in recent times just because it gets the essentials right. The acting by all lead stars and the supporting cast is excellent. Editing and Direction is all top notch. Speaking of acting Sushant Singh deserves all the praise but one has to agree his role was the most likable of the three. Amit and Raj's role was challenging as well which they have played with due diligence. Even the support cast of Omi's "mama" and Vidya were brilliant and did justice to their role. But the real beauty of this movie lies in its simplicity. I never felt a scene overdone in the movie. The fight scenes (among the friend and riots)specially don't look pacified as in most of the Hindi movies for censor certificates. At the end of the day Kai Po Che! makes you feel nostalgic ,gives you heartwarming moments and heart breaking moments as well but then you realize that good cinema does not necessarily needs to be ground breaking, you can make a good movie just by following simple rule of good story, good acting and good direction.

Suits (Season 1)

*ing : Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Meghan Markle
Creator : Aaron Korsh

Tagline : Nothing's ever black and white.

SUITS is smart, sassy, clever, sophisticated, timely and immensely entertaining!
SUITS is a lawyer show. Set in New York (captured, by the way, in beautiful cinematic vistas) it focuses on a very successful law firm, managed by Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) who balances the talents of her two top lawyers, the smarmy Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman) who is a control freak, and the very brilliant but egotistical Harvey Spector (Gabriel Macht). There is a particularly appealing and very bright secretary Donna (Sarah Rafferty) and a beautiful paralegal Rachel (Meghan Markel) and last but certainly not least by any means there is Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) - a young lad who is extremely bright, has a photographic memory, dropped out of college because he took tests for fellow students and got caught, fell into marketing drugs by default for need of money so that he could pursue his dream of being a lawyer, and falls quite by accident into the role of being selected as associate to the brilliant but self absorbed Harvey Spector. This is the team of characters who are destined to provide fascinating substories as they interact.
The dialogues are clever, bright, snappy, unclichéd, witty, and helps define the complexities of the characters. The pacing is exceptional and the series has the appearance of a high-end movie - excellent cinematography, expansive development of story in well-selected locations - but most of all this is a cast that is worthy of attention every moment they are on camera.
Loving every episode of it.

Side by Side

*ing : (as themselves) Derek Ambrosi, Michael Ballhaus, Dion Beebe, Danny Boyle, Martin Scorcese David Fincher etc
Director : Christopher Kenneally

Tagline : a documentary about the science, art, and impact of digital cinema

This is a documentary made by Keanu Reevs and his team talking to top directors of world about the technology and its effect on today’s movies and storytelling. Frankly movie was very good experience as we were actually imagining how difficult it would be to get all giants of film making under one roof. But admire the team of Side By Side they have done fabulous job. Every aspect of the topic has been covered. As film progresses, it covers vital, deep areas of discussion and yet you find it interesting. Film has been made with fair, unbiased mind set and every side has been given chances to forward their views.
Personally, it doesn’t matter how the film is shot. If the film is good, I wud love it irrespective of the medium.

The Sessions

*ing : John Hawkes, Helen Hunt, William H. Macy
Director : Ben Lewin

Tagline : THE FESTIVAL HIT OF THE YEAR!

The Sessions tells the true story of Mark O'Brien (John Hawkes), a poet/journalist who has an iron lung and is paralyzed from the neck down due to polio. At age 36 he decides he wants to finally lose his virginity and with the support of his friend/priest hires a sex surrogate played by Helen Hunt
The film doesn't shy away from much. The sex "therapy" sessions are depicted as realistically as possible and are both funny and touching (no pun intended). Direction is simple yet it manages to adequately depict O'Brien's world without sensationalizing it. It's an all round simple tale that is well told. This is an adult drama that will make you laugh, cry and look more positively at your own life.

Saheb Biwi aur Gangster returns

*ing : Irrfan Khan, Jimmy Shergil, Mahi Gill, Soha Ali Khan
Director : Tigmanshu Dhulia

Tagline :

I am not much a fan of sequels for the sake of sequels. Like Bhatt camp has started, jism 2, jannat 2, aashiqi 2 etc etc. ! so I was not very comfortable with the idea anyway. Tigmanshu Dhulia is better director than that and Irrfan Khan definitely is a much better actor to be trapped in this sequel game.
Yet, combination of Dhulia and Irfan was enough for me to get excited in the film. But I was disappointed. . Frankly speaking , I never hated the first part itself but my expectation was quite high as Irrfan Khan was added to star cast. The film has its moments but that’s mainly only because of Irfan Khan.
Picking up from 2011's Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster's ending which left a crippled, wheelchair bound Saheb (Jimmy Shergill), an alcoholic, and her estranged wife (Mahi Gill). This time round Saheb is looking for a second wife and unilaterally selects Ranjana (Soha Ali Khan)- daughter of rival politician Raja Birendar (Raj Babbar) arm-twisting his approval in the process. Ranjana though is in love with gangster Raja Bhaiyya (Irfan Khan) who has personal scores to settle with Saheb. Battle lines are drawn, and Saheb seems to be cornered. But of course Dhulia has a script of Machiavellian proportions- as in the first movie all the characters are brutal and scheming, so there are enough twists and turns but they all seemed forced somewhere.
Overall , I felt it was an unnecessary sequel to proceed. It could be a better option if you do not have anything else to watch.
