The Amazing Spiderman

*ing : Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhy Ifans
Director : Marc Webb

Tagline : His past was kept from him. His search for answers have just begun.

The amazing spiderman is a brand new film on the character. Well isn’t it too early to hv a reboot for the franchise which’s last film came only 5 years ago. You cant help bt feel lil nostalgic about the first few films of spiderman. For people of our generation, the first spiderman films are still fresh in mind we and loved those films. Spiderman for us is tobey Maguire and director is sam raimi. Even though mark webb and Andrew Garfield have done decent job.. I wish the film wasn’t made this early.
However for younger lot, who may not remember spiderman can have good fun.

Taking Woodstock

*ing : Demetri Martin, Henry Goodman, Edward Hibbert
Director : Ang Lee

Tagline : A generation began in his backyard

I have had this film in my laptop for over an year and I cud never watch it. Everytime I started watching this film, I couldn’t go beyond 10-15 mins. I was about to delete this film even without watching. Bt then Rajeev masand once tweeted something. He was asked which is one film he wud want to BE in. and he answered taking Woodstock. That hooked me. So finally I saw the film and learnt why he said it.
The film is a about a revolutionary concert that happened somewhere near NewYork and about the guy who organized it. The concent gave shelter and much needed momentum to the hippie movement at that point of time and was atteneded by lakhs and lakhs of hippies at that point of time. Well there is nothing much in the film I liked bt ya, just being there,, in that concert, among all those hippies wud hv been a good fun. 

Vicky Donor

*ing : Ayushman Khurana, Yami Gautam, Annu Kapoor
Director : Shoojit Sircar

Tagline : I am a sperm donor

A hindi film I saw very late but loved immensely that’s Vicky donor. Been ages I saw such good hindi film which I want to see again n again. I had heard good reviews but unfortunately could never watch it. For the first time, I saw this film completely on my moble phone streaming on youtube. But I just could never get it.. so I saw it again n again n again.
As the title suggests, the film is about Vicky, who despite initial reluctance, ends up becoming sperm donor. The film is hilarious has some great humour. Its based in delhi so the usual delhi twang and words are all there. Plus, most of the film is in Punjabi which I kinda have lived within last few years.
The casting is superb specially the ladies playing vicky’s mom n grand mom. They are riot. having lived in delhi-ncr for years,, u cant help but miss the city. delhi city is almost a character in the film. lovely music too.. outstanding humour and such great msg. ! the film so nicely handled. makers cud hv easily put in soo many double meaning jokes bt its clean..
The film has a great msg and a big big heart. Loved it.

The Pixar Story

*ing : Brad Bird, John Lasseter, Stacey Keach
Director : Leslie Iwerks

Tagline : Documentary about the history of Pixar Animation

Anyone in the world who has anything to do with animation films loves pixar. And is amazed by their formula and their success rate. Recently I saw their most successful movie franchise Toy Story I II & II. And I just wanted to find out what pixar people eat to make such groundbreaking films. And I found out that there is no formula really. These are just bunch of normal people working extra hard and giving value of story and human emotions above everything else. People who work at pixar not just work but enjoy their life at fullest and gives everything they have to their job. And that results in the kind of work they have done. People say that pixar was an overnight success.. bt u look at this documentary, you wud realize.. no success in world is overnight. Ppl just overlook the struggle and time team has put behind to get the success. As I write this, pixar is going thru their worst time since inception.. their last two films (cars 2 and brave) have severely been panned by critics and is no match to the success they hv had in past. Also the problem is Pixar has set its standard soo high, its difficult even for them to reach there. But I do not doubt at all that they will make a much better movie next. Amen.

Gangs Of Wasseypur

*ing : Majon Bajpayee, Richa Chadha, Reema Sen, Nawazzudin Sharif, Huma Qureshi, Tigmanshu Dhuliya

Director : Anurag Kashyap

Tagline : Teri Keh ke Lunga

I hv been looking forward for this film. Mostly its coz anurag kashyap’s dream project. I hv always admired his work. His best film I still think is black Friday.
And also coz it has music by sneha khanwalkar, who along with amit trivedi is my fav music director of current crop.
However I cant help but feel underwhelmed seeing the film. Its just too long and too many characters. Becomes lil confusing as who is who and difficult to keep track of all the characters. Also, as it’s a revenge saga, u cant help but feel as film is going where. Ofcourse things wud be clear in part-2. But part 1 definitely cud hv been shorter and edited better.
However there is much to like too.. music as I said in beginning is kick ass and “keh k lunga” is probably the best song of the year. There is also lot of dark humor and much lust and sex. Film is shot brilliantly and casting is also good. Film spans around 3 generations and all the characters hv acted well.
Lets see how part II goes.

Toy Story 3

*Voices by : Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack
Director : Lee Unkrich

Tagline : No Toys gets left behind

And the masterstroke comes. After 11 years, the final movie in the franchise is the best of the lot.
This time, andy is grown up and is leaving for college. Now the fat of the toys has to be decided. The woody and his army knew that one day this day wud come. But none of them were prepared for wat was coming. They all accidently get donated a day care where they are tourtured and bullied by some other toys and kids their.
In a thrilling escape from the day care to the their final destiny, the film is mesmerizing. Specially the last 20 mins of the film. You will cry. You may not feel for any human being but u will cry for the toys. And it pains to realize that these characters may never come on screen again.
Pixar people, you are genius, please continue being so.
