I hv been looking forward for this film. Mostly its coz anurag kashyap’s dream project. I hv always admired his work. His best film I still think is black Friday.
And also coz it has music by sneha khanwalkar, who along with amit trivedi is my fav music director of current crop.
However I cant help but feel underwhelmed seeing the film. Its just too long and too many characters. Becomes lil confusing as who is who and difficult to keep track of all the characters. Also, as it’s a revenge saga, u cant help but feel as film is going where. Ofcourse things wud be clear in part-2. But part 1 definitely cud hv been shorter and edited better.
However there is much to like too.. music as I said in beginning is kick ass and “keh k lunga” is probably the best song of the year. There is also lot of dark humor and much lust and sex. Film is shot brilliantly and casting is also good. Film spans around 3 generations and all the characters hv acted well.
Lets see how part II goes.

Toy Story 3

And the masterstroke comes. After 11 years, the final movie in the franchise is the best of the lot.
This time, andy is grown up and is leaving for college. Now the fat of the toys has to be decided. The woody and his army knew that one day this day wud come. But none of them were prepared for wat was coming. They all accidently get donated a day care where they are tourtured and bullied by some other toys and kids their.
In a thrilling escape from the day care to the their final destiny, the film is mesmerizing. Specially the last 20 mins of the film. You will cry. You may not feel for any human being but u will cry for the toys. And it pains to realize that these characters may never come on screen again.
Pixar people, you are genius, please continue being so.

The toys are back and how. With new more characters added and much much more fun. This time its woody who is stolen by a greedy man who wants to sell it off in exhibiton in japan. Bt this time its buzz’s turn to rescue his friend and show his loyality towards his family of toys. There is a twist too when woody himself wants to stay back.
Again as I said, the series is nothing sort of genius. And its soooo much fun. Not just for kids but for the adults as well. I am sure u cant help but to miss ur childhood.

I have said this in past, and I wud say it again. People at pixar are genius. What a concept they have and wat brilliant way to execute things.
Toy story nothing bt story telling at its best.
Andy is a young boy who loves playing with his toys. His favorite being cowboy “woody”. Woody gets insanely jelous when a new space toy “buzz” is gifted to him on his birthday. Initially he does try to get rid of the toy but slowly he starts having a bond with him and that’s wat the story is about.
You will long for the characters, you will care for them in spite of them just being a “toy”. Then there are some really funny character like mr potato head and dianosour and others.
To think that this film came in 1995 is nothing bt an achievement as the animation still looks very good.

Prison Break (TV Show) Season 1,2 & 3

Escape is just a beginning.

I honestly have been bored of watching movies. I have see many in past. I still hv few unwatched movies left but I just dnt feel like watching them. Well just at the right time, I was recommended to watch this very popular tv series prison break. And boy, was I hooked. Its riveting. Like first season, u dnt want to get ur eyes off on wats happening.
Its about a character (Michael scolfield) who is like genius and who’s brother is falsely implicated and sent to jail. Michael creates an elaborate plan and gets into the same jail to get his brother out.
At every step he faces many challenges. Bt he overcomes with his intellect. He also manages to fall in love, no less.
I cant really explain the pleasure of watching shows like this coz its nowhere less than any high quality Hollywood movie. The casting is great, the production values are outstanding. Our films also cant match the quality of story-telling that they hv in movies. The show, however drags wee much in season 3 and I m yet to see season 4.
Bt whatever I saw, is nothing less than brilliant. I hv tasted blood now and I want to watch all the famous shows. Like fringe, lost, big band theory, entrouge, friends dexter etc.

The Immortals of Meluha (Book)

When we grew, Krishna ji was our fav bhagwan. Mostly coz we saw many serials based on his life. Also mahabharat which was a rage had Krishna ji in it.
Shanker ji did hv a show “om namah shivay” bt we dint follow it that regularly.
Then I read this book, meluha. It is a fictional account based on life of shanker ji. The book is good and has some really interesting ideas about past of india. They may b true may not be bt they are very different and unique thoughts about system.
Bt more than anything, I m curious life of shanker ji. As how great god he is. In fact he is called mahadev which means god of gods.
He is a passionate dancer, very innocent, has sacrificed a lot, has drunk poison to save world, has moon and ganga on his head and a snake around his neck. Really there is soo much to know learn about gods of our country. His son ganesha. Ganesha’s wife ridhi sidhi. Their kid shubh labh. Its fascinating to learn soo many thing about our gods. Like seriously.
About the book, it’s a triology. Lets see when I get to read the second part. 3rd is not yet released.
Also saw interviews of the writer, amish and he a very articulate man with amazing thoughts and ideas. Liked the over all experience.

I never Thought I could fall in love. My journey from love to lust (book)

The title seemed really interesting so bought the book. Is nothing bt an averagely written average story. Some sex scenes with grose description is thrown in between. However some of the situation does matches to our lives bt nothing more than a dramatized story. U wont feel much at the end of it.

Bombay Duck is a Fish (Book)

Bought this book coz it was written by kanika dhillon who works for red chilies and also that book was launched by none other than shah rukh khan himself.
Kanika also co-writer of film ra.one which I thought was a very bad film.
Bt contrary to films, if u read a bad book, it hurts even more. Movie gets over in 2 hours something and u get involved. However a book takes sometime to finish and u hv to invest much more while reading the book.. like imagining the character, emotionally investing and more.
So ya, Bombay fish is a duck is a bad bad book. Its about assistant director working on a big film and hw main characters falls in love with a new star and how her life changes from bad to worse.
Avoid it, big time.

Jannat 2

(was away for month n half and had least access to net so cudnt update any of the post. )


Saw this film coz I was mostly bored and dint hv much option for entertainment. Film got decent enuf reviews so took a chance. More so, saw the film in a single theatre after years and experience was amusing. People wud whistle and make noise when there was even a probability of a sex scene or a kiss. And since it was an emraan hashmi film, u can expect both of them.
About the film, its not that bad.. It aint that good either. Hashmi plays a Delhi lad who deals in illegal guns. Falls in love with a pretty doctor and charms her off in usual style. Then gets entangled in a police informer gang thing. the police guy here is played impressively randip hooda.
Film obviously has strong shades of “the departed”. Few songs are decent and so are few scenes. Chemistry between randip and emraan is crackling. Bt film has some cheesy bollywoodish plots too..
