Fukrey

*ing : Pulkit Samrat, Manjot Singh, Ali Fazal , Varun Sharma
Director : Mrigdeep Singh Lamba

Fukrey is one of the funniest movie I have seen in recent times. Fukra is a delhi slang which loosely translates into ‘good for nothing slacker’. Its about 4 guys named Honey, Chucha, Lali (soo delhi and soo Punjabi names) and zafar. All of whom needs some money for their respective problems and how they hv a brush with a local (female) gangster played by Richa Chhadha.
Film is full with delhi humor and lingo, and that’s wat the its biggest problem is. Cause if u are not from Delhi or if u are not aware of the culture, u wont just get the jokes. Film also has a superb soundtrack which I discovered soo late. It’s a super fun movie and a must watch. Loved it. my favorite, chucha. He is riot.

D-Day

*ing : Irrfan Khan, Arjun Rampal, Rishi Kapoor
Director : Nikhil Advani

Tagline : Ab Hamari Bari hai

D Day
I wasn’t expecting much but D Day is surprisingly good spy movie by a director who has made pathetic rom-com and drama movies in last few years. Film is a fictional account of Indian spies in Pakistan trying to bring Dawood Ibrahim to India. Film looks real, is gritty and has some edge of the seat moments. Acting is over all good with even arjun rampal pitching in with intense performance. Huma Querishi is miscast and she just doesn’t fit the role. Irrfan Khan leads the cast with stellar performance. Rishi Kapoor as Dawood just wasnt chilling enough.
Couple of song, specially Alvida and Ek Ghadi are beautiful. Alvida is also shot with soo much sadness it brings tears to ur eyes.

Iron Man 3

*ing : Robert Downey Jr., Guy Pearce, Gwyneth Paltrow , Ben Kingsley
Director : Shane Black

Tagline : Prepare for a heavy metal!

"Iron Man 3" does what most third entries in movie franchise don't do, turns in a great movie. This holds up very nicely next to the previous 2 installments, and I'd say it's probably better than "Iron Man 2" and about the same as the first movie. Here, Tony Stark(Robert Downey Jr.) is haunted by the events of the Avengers and finds himself obsessing over creating and perfecting new suits. He is constantly trying to figure out new way to protect his lady love Pepper (Gwyneth Paltrow), and make the suits better and better. Then he placed in the cross hairs of a terrorist called the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley). Very unconventional super hero movie, which is great because it's a true breath of fresh air. It's not your typical good guy vs. bad guy movie in a lot of ways. All the performances are great, and it really leaves you with a sense of "how are they gonna do another one?!"
Iron Man is one of my most favorite superhero. He is funny bt when I saw the first promos, I thought they are going to make a dark Iron Man movie and I was really apprenhensive. Bt the film is has enough humor to keep u entertained. And don’t even talk abt action scenes, I was jumping on the seat and my mouth was wide open. Only regret, wish I cud see this movie on IMAX screen.
Anyways, do stay after the credits, it's pretty awesome too..

Now You See Me

*ing : Jesse Eisenberg, Common, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine
Director : Louis Leterrier

I'm not wholly sure why I don't like this film, but I really don't. I think that it tried too hard to be clever, and I clearly didn't 'get it'

There is nothing wrong with the cast, I like them all and there's no one I would single out as having an 'off day' or providing a poor performance. There are many twists and turns in the script, which I would normally approve of but I'm not sure that the lack of a story is the problem. The main story is unnecessarily convoluted with a condescending need to re-cap events and explain how you were misdirected the first time you saw this. When the director keeps showing me something and then saying that wasn't what happened it doesn't take long for me to stop caring about what just happened. The result is a film that's much too long and takes far too long to get to the point so that when the final twist did happen I just didn't care anymore.

I was intrigued by the great trailer for this film, but it over-sells the actual film which was very disappointing.

Ghanchakkar

*ing : Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi
Director : Rajkumar Gupta

Tagline : Remember, Not to forget.

Ghanchakkar is attempt at some dark noir comedy bt the sad part is it doesn’t make you laugh. The film had tremendous potential I must confess. Emraan hashmi, with two others rob a bank and decide to divide money after 3 months. Unfortunately he meets with an accident and looses memory. Now other two are after his life and want to know where money is. Film deliciously plays well where viewers are confused whether hashmi is playing all of them or he has actually lost his memory. Then there is his loud wife played by Vidya Balan who acts mysteriously as if she has a role in all the game. Saddest part is the lame climax where things end rather stupidly and as a viewer u are left exasperated.

Man of Tai Chi

*ing : Tiger Hu Chen, Keanu Reeves, Karen Mok
Director : Keaunu Reeves

Tagline: No Rules. No Mercy. Pure Fighting

It’s a bad bad film. I saw the trailer and liked the concept bt the film is soo boring and has soo much bad acting its hard not to sleep. Moreover the film is directed by Keanu Reeves, thought he d hv some sensibility and not make such crap movie. The lead hero is sooo boring and soo wooden wish he was killed in the first fight itself. Please don’t go by the promos. Avoid.

Ankur Arora Murder Case

*ing : Tisca Chopra, Paoli Dam, Arjun Mathur
Director : Sohail Tatari

Tagline : When Hope Kills...

Apparently based on real life incident where a kid dies on operation table due to negligence of doctors of some high profile hospital. Film gives chilling account of what goes beyond these powerful corporate run hospitals and what are their methods of minting money from patients. Its no more the noble profession it used to be and and just like education, it has become pure business.
However the film per se is not that great and there is some shoddy acting and disjointed screenplay. Wish the movie was better made coz the issue did deserve to be represented better and to wider audience.

Coupling (season 2)

*ing : Jack Davenport, Gina Bellman, Sarah Alexander
Created by : Steven Moffat

Tagline : The naughty new comedy about nothing...but SEX!

Coupling, as explained earlier, is a rip off of popular show, Friends, consisting of 3 male and 3 female friends, bt with only n only sex. Original friends was about 6 individuals coming together in a town and livng all the moments of life. Whereas, coupling spins around sex and sexual problems of each character. Some of which are endearing, some are funny bt most of which is plain boring , to the point of being irritating. Its harmless watch so continue watching it, bt nothing worth recommending here.

Chennai Express

*ing : Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone
Director : Rohit Shetty

Tagline : Ready, Steady, Po

Needless to say this that I am huge Shah Rukh Khan fan. And when I write this review, I surely am going to be biased. Well, the fact is that I don’t have to. Chennai Express is a very entertaining movie. I laughed at many many scenes and so did every people in the hall. Its also a very clean movie with no crude, vulgar double meaning dialogue which is rarity these days. Film is about Rahul, who leaves house to immerse ashes of his grandfather in rameshwaram bt has plans to go goa. With fate of luck, he ends up saving a don’s daughter, played by Deepika Padukone, and now he has to accompany her to the village. I haven’t really liked films of rohit shetty except golmal 1 and singham. Bt he truly has made a wholesome entertainer. Special word for deepika padukone who outshines everyone, including srk. She’s the real scene stealer. Watch it, and watch it family.

Gippi

*ing : Riya Vij, Divya Dutta, Arbaz Kadwani, Taaha Shah
Director : Sonam Nair

Tagline : Big girl, huge heart

Gippi is a fun movie. Reminiscent of Hollywood high school movies bt unlike them, issue is not sex and girls here bt finding the voice and coming of age movie.
Gippi is a overweight girl with no special talent. She is constantly made fun of in the school in shimla where she lives with her single mother and her younger brother.. She ends up fighting election for school captain against the most popular girl of school. Gippi is too sweet and adorable character u do end up rooting for her. One of the favorite hobby of Gippi is to dance on the songs of Shammi Kapoor which is just too cute to watch. Watch this movie with family. Sure there is enough to like.

Raanjhana

*ing : Dhanush, Sonam
Director : Ananad Rai

Tagline :

Well it cud hv been a great movie.. It had everything going for it,, such romantic title. Such a gorgeous actress. A south Indian star actor and director who made a rather good first movie, never to forget music by AR Rahman. Yet, it never rises above sum of it parts. Film has few good songs. Film has few great moments. Film has some good acting bt it never comes together. Things are haywire, especially in 2nd half. From a love story, film ends up being a political story. The turnaround of actress and the finale left me quite cold. I did not feel anything for the kundan, who was such a lovable guy throughout the movie bt his love was always misguided. Especially those wrist slashing moments, too many in the film was just not needed and it will actually start a trend in smaller cities for wooing the girl, if it already isn’t.

Office Space

*ing : Ron Livingston, Jennifer Aniston, David Herman
Director : Mike Judge

Tagline: Work Sucks.

Incredibly true-to-life story about life at work. Anyone who's ever worked in a large office will find at least one thing, probably more, that they can relate to.

Look at the characters: From the receptionist with the annoying high-pitched voice, to the clueless management, to the soft-spoken guy with no backbone (or so you think), this looks more like a documentary than fiction.

The daily situations of the office environment, including paper jams in the printer, static electricity, and slow computers, are hilarious for some reason when they happen to the people in the movie.

Throw in some great acting, a good story, and the humor of Mike Judge, and you'll find one of the better comedies. Enjoy

Lost (Season 2)

*ing : Matthew Fox, Jorge Garcia, Evangeline Lilly, Evangeline Lilly, Naveen Andrews, Josh Holloway, Terry O'Quinn
Created by :J.J. Abrams, Jeffrey Lieber, Damon Lindelof

Tagline : On this island, survival is not a game.

As I said above, lost is something I had always always wanted to see. So in spite of it not living up to the expectations (so far) I continue to watch it coz it will mean something to have finished this series.
Definitely a lot more improvement in the plot and things becoming clearer as wats happening on the island bt sure there is much more to come. Yet again though, things happening on the island are quite interesting bt the flashbacks are big hindrance.
Lets see how it goes in coming seasons.
